PARA TODO MAL, MEZCAL; PARA TODO BIEN, TAMBIÉN

Streets of Oaxaca

In Oaxaca, the saying “Para todo mal, mezcal; para todo bien, también” beautifully captures the deep cultural significance of mezcal in everyday life. Translated as “For all bad, mezcal; for all good, mezcal too,” this phrase reflects the spirit’s versatility and importance in Oaxacan tradition. Mezcal is more than just a drink—it’s a companion through life’s highs and lows.

During difficult times, a sip of mezcal is believed to soothe the soul, ease worries, and bring comfort. In moments of joy and celebration, it enhances the experience, bringing people together and marking special occasions. Mezcal is a symbol of resilience, community, and gratitude, making it an essential part of Oaxacan culture. No matter the situation—good or bad—mezcal is always the answer.
